Floodplain Permits
APPLICATION has been made by Bill Althans for Diane Althans for a FLOODPLAIN PERMIT from the City of Three Forks to build a floodproofed 34’ by 23’ garage at the property located at Lot 12, Block 23 of the Three Forks Original Townsite (Plat D-18), commonly referred to as 301 1st Ave E. Plans and specifications for this project can be viewed at the Three Forks City Office at 206 Main Street, Three Forks, MT.
Public comment will be taken in support of and in opposition to this request for 15 calendar days from August 1st, 2025, the 1st date of this posting. Written testimony is preferred. Zoning Issues
There are several Zoning Chapters being amended and some new ones on the way as well. The Zoning & Planning board has been meeting additional dates outside of their regularly scheduled 3rd Thursday of the month. Their next meeting is 8/27/2025 at 6:30PM at City Hall, 206 S. City Council Public Hearings
The Three Forks City Council held a public hearing on June 10, 2025, at 6:00PM to consider a Resolution of Intent to Declare Certain Property as Surplus No Longer Necessary to Conduct City Business and Authorizing Its Sale or Disposal. The hearing was held at City Hall located at 206 S. Main Street, Three Forks, Montana. Bids were accepted up to 5:00PM on 7/8/2025. However, not all equipment was bid on, so Public Works reviewed the minimum bid amounts and amended them. The next hearing will be held on August 12, 2025, at 6PM at City Hall. Click on the links below for pictures. All equipment is AS IS. It is the bidder's responsibility to inspect the equipment/vehicle. Once the drafted resolution is updated, it will be posted on the Council Packet page.

Bids should be dropped off or mailed to City Hall (206 Main Street / PO Box 187, Three Forks, MT 59752) by 5PM on 8/12/2025. The outside of the envelope should have the name of equipment on it, the bidder's name and contact number. Inside should have the amount bid. The Council will hold a public hearings on July 8, 2025, to hear the first reading of the Revised Impact Fee Ordinance: Title 3, Chapter 6 of the Three Forks Municipal Code.
The Three Forks City Council will also hold a public hearing on July 8, 2025, to consider a Resolution to Adopt Revised Impact Fees for all new construction and changes of use for Fire, Water, Wastewater, Transportation, and Municipal Buildings.
The second reading of the Revised Impact Fee Ordinance is scheduled for August 12, 2025.

Water Main Replacement Project
Request for Proposals - Audit Services
The City of Three Forks, Montana is hereby requesting proposals from qualified firms or individuals, to audit the financial statements of the City for the fiscal years ending June 30th, 2026, 2027 and 2028.
These audits must be made in accordance with auditing standards and in accordance with federal regulations adopted by the Montana Department of Administration by rule. Auditors shall utilize the local government compliance supplement prepared by the Montana Department of Administration, in conjunction with government auditing standards, adopted by the Montana Department of Administration, to determine compliance testing to be performed during the audit.
The audit shall be conducted around October of each year, following the end of the City’s fiscal year and completed no later than December of the same year. An audit report shall be issued and presented to the City Council no later than the end of February the following year.
Payments for services will be made on a schedule to be agreed at the time the audit contract is signed. Prior years’ audit reports are on file and available for review by bidders.
Include the number of hours proposed at each level of audit and review and names of those who are expected to be assigned to the audit, their qualifications and experience in governmental accounting and auditing. Describe general direction and supervision to be exercised over the audit team by the firm’s management personnel. Provide a list of other governments to whom you have provided auditing services. Outline your approach and procedures that will be used on this audit. Note any additional services that may be included in the bid, for example the price of a single audit. The City will require three (3) printed copies of the final report annually. List any items needed for audit and when they should be made available. City staff will be available to locate and re-file documentation as necessary, and photocopies will be provided as needed.
To be considered, a minimum of one hard copy and one digital copy of the proposal must be received at City Hall no later than 4:00 p.m., Friday, September 26, 2025. The Three Forks City Council reserves the right to reject any or all proposals submitted. Proposals submitted will be evaluated by the Mayor, City Clerk, and Treasurer, members of the Auditing/Budgeting Committee. A recommendation will be made during the Council’s regular meeting on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 6:00PM in the City Hall Council Chambers, 206 Main Street.
