Council

The City Council acts as the legislative branch of our government, as well as its policy-making body. The Council looks to our community's goals, major projects and infrastructure improvements ranging from community growth to land use to finances and strategic planning. The Council's goal is to do the very best to represent their constituents after they've seen to the needs of the community as a whole.  Council members are representatives of "at-large" Three Forks municipal residents, so anyone living within the municipal boundary who is 18 years of age or older, a citizen of Montana, and qualified elector (pursuant to IV.2 of the Montana Constitution).

The Council shall set policy and laws.  All powers of the City shall be vested in the Council except as otherwise provided by lw, and the Council shall provide for the exercise thereof and for the performance of all duties and obligations imposed by law or the City Charter.  Notices for all public meetings, along with the agendas, area posted in advance of the meeting.  Minutes are posted after meetings have conluded (or as soon as draft-legible).  Audio/Video recordings of the Council meetings are available live during the meeting via the City's Facebook page, and will remain on the page for viewing afterwards (in accordance with 2-3-214, MCA).

The City Council is scheduled to meet the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month, at 6:00PM at City Hall, which is 206 Main Street, Three Forks. (The 4th Tuesday of the month meeting is held as needed, based upon agenda items.)
